I strongly recommend that you check out The 3RedLightFix Guide. What I love about this guide is that it contains comprehensive instructions and video guides to FIX your Xbox 360 RROD permanently, plus how to avoid overheating, tips on getting rid of graphic errors, avoiding scratched discs and more. Also it is regularly updated, and you get the backing of the full customer support center. This is the best all around Xbox 360 Red Ring Of Death Repair Guide.

The best part was the step-by-step videos on how to fix the RROD and not having to wait 8 weeks for Microsoft to send you back the replacement. You get the videos and guide instantly and you can get back to playing on Xbox Live in just under an hour.

Good question.

In today’s Internet world, sites such as ours must operate under a “confirmed opt-in” policy. That means that before we can enter you into our system, we have to verify that you are the rightful owner of your email address.

It’s a pain, but it’s a good way to prevent abuse.

Please check your bulk or spam folder as it’s possible that our email to you was sent there by mistake.

If this happens, be sure to mark our email as “not spam,” add us to your buddy list, or follow whatever protocol your email provider has for “whitelisting” any particular senders.

“I checked all that and still nothing!”

You should check with your ISP to find out why you’re not receiving our messages.

Meanwhile, you can sign up for a free email account with Yahoo at http://mail.yahoo.com

Xbox 360 Repair Guide

You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for an Xbox 360 Repair Guide. I used to work for a major Fortune 500 company in the division that dealt repairing Xbox 360s. You can probably guess which company, it’s actually really obvious. It’s the company that makes the Xbox 360s.

I worked in the Xbox Repair Center so I know all about Xbox 360s and anything that goes on with them. I have personally handled 100,000+ Xboxes with my career in repairing Xbox 360s.

Take a look at my Xbox 360 Repair Guide to fix any kind of problem you have with your Xbox 360.

It won’t take long before you start playing Gears of War 2, GTA IV, Halo 3, Guitar Hero, Call Of Duty, or Assassin’s Creed.

Xbox 360 Repair Guide
I know that from working personally on Xbox 360s, that their reliability rate is horrible. You probably have a 50% chance of having something go wrong with your Xbox 360. That’s like flipping a coin. The lack of reliability is the only thing that distinguishes the Xbox 360 from other game consoles.

When normally you should be getting green lights on your Xbox and you see three red lights or any number of red lights that blink, it’s just a horrible feelings. I know how it must feel. I’ve been there before and I’ve actually handled a number of Xbox 360s that went through the same thing.

When a console is out of warranty, we used to charge any where from $140 to $180 to fix your Xbox. Almost enough for you to buy yourself a new one. Even under warranty, it takes anywhere from 6-8 weeks to get your Xbox 360 back.

There a better way to fix your Xbox 360. Take a look at this Xbox Repair Guide and do it yourself. If I can do it, anyone can.

Click here to get instant access to the Xbox Repair Guide.

Here are some tips to avoid getting the RROD from a professional.

Keep your Xbox 360 well ventilated. If it’s in a TV stand type cabinet, take it out and let it breathe fresh air in the open instead of being trapped inside a small space

Place your Xbox 360 on something hard when it’s turned on: hardwood floors, a cardboard box, on top of a wood TV stand. It’s generally a bad idea put it on your carpet.

Don’t block the fans in the back as that helps cool down your Xbox 360

The most common problem I get from Xbox gamers is they say to me, “My Xbox 360 keeps freezing up.”
If you read all the articles on the net now when you search for “My Xbox 360 keeps freezing up,” they’ll give you a half-ass explanation that it’s because of overheating.

Although overheating is a cause of it, they’re only scraping the surface with why it overheats. They fail to mention that it’s because of the Graphics Processing Unit and the soldering that was used on it. But also they don’t mention anything about the Power Supply Unit (PSU).

I’ll go over in detail the problem of: My Xbox 360 Keeps Freezing Up

If you want to skip ahead to the Xbox Repair Guide, click here to continue.

My Xbox 360 Keeps Freezing Up
How to stop your Xbox 360 from freezing
1.	Make sure your room or house that you are playing your Xbox 360 is well ventilated.
2.	Don’t leave your Xbox 360 in the cabinet while it’s on, it’s not getting enough air.
3.	If you have carpets or rugs, don’t place the console on that while it’s on. Keep it on the hardwood floors if you got some.
4.	The back of the Xbox 360 has fans. Don’t block this area what so ever.
5.	The PSU gets really hot when it’s on carpet and causes freezes ups
a.	If you want to maximize the amount of air the Power Supply Unit gets, hang it by a piece of string so it’s getting enough air
b.	You can also use a cardboard box and put the PSU on it’s sides
6.	Put a fan next to your Xbox 360 and PSU on a hot summer day if you don’t have AC
7.	Do not put your Xbox in the freezer or fridge because it will get condensation on the inside
8.	If you leave your Xbox on all the time, give it a good hard restart at leave once a day.
9.	Placing the Xbox near the TV vents is not a good idea either. The TV needs to cool down too

These tips will help you conquer the problem of: My Xbox 360 Keeps Freezing Up.

Here is the cause why it does freeze. Imagine a bridge that connects two roads together. If there is a crack or break in the road, cars can simply drive over it. But that crack will get bigger and bigger. Now imagine an electrical current. It needs to have two pieces of metal connected for that current to travel on. If there is a crack in the road for a electrical current, it can’t get to the other side, no matter if that crack is a hairline crack or a huge void.

What happens when your Xbox freezes is that it gets so hot and then has to cool down right away. Think about what you learned in science class. When something heats and cools down really quickly, it expands and contracts. This expanding and contracting will cause the metal to wear and eventually crack.

That is why it is important to keep your Xbox cool and at room temperature at all times.

Here you’ll find everything you need to know from RROD, red ring of death, RLOD, red light of death, over heating, 1 red light of death, 2 red light of death, 2 red ring of death, Xbox power supply problems, and many more.

If you like to skip to the guide on How To Repair Xbox 360, click this link to continue on.

Before we start, we first have to figure out the problem with your Xbox 360. This can usually be gauged by the lights on the front of your Xbox. The red flashing lights indicate that there’s something wrong with your Xbox.

How To Repair Xbox 360
One Red Ring Of Death Xbox 360

If the problem is not with any rings of death, it could be other issues such as your controller not working, your power supply getting to hot, or if you keep getting game freezing and your Xbox crashing. You may even have problems with discs being scratched or your disc sticking to the tray. Whatever your problem is, this site is here to help you out.

I’ve had an Xbox 360 for years and worked in the Microsoft Repair Center so I know everything there is about fixing Xboxes.
Let me tell you, sending your Xbox to the warranty repair center is the last thing you want to do. You don’t know what goes on behind those doors and you also don’t end up with your same Xbox back.

To speed up the process of getting your Xbox back and turnaround, what Microsoft does is it only keeps the outside shell of your Xbox (the white part) and swaps everything else out. If you notice, all the internal parts could belong to someone else.

How To Repair Xbox 360
For example, just the other day we got an Xbox 360 in and it looked like it was babied. The sticker was still on the silver tray part and it looked brand new. It was such a shame that we had to swap it for another one. The one we swapped it out had scratches all over the metal part of it.

The worst part of it was that we couldn’t do anything about it. It is Microsoft’s policy to get these turned around as soon as possible. And that means that you won’t get your same Xbox back, at least not the internal parts.

So take if from me, you want to do all the repairs yourself. It’s actually really easy to do.

Follow my Xbox Repair Guide here and I’ll show you exactly what I do and how to fix any problems you have with your Xbox.

This guide will tell you how to fix Xbox 360 controller. Do you have buttons on your Xbox 360 controller that are dead or they stick? It’s annoying when your buttons stick when you’re trying to play your games. It’s even more annoying if you get killed or shot because you have dead buttons.

Don’t worry though; you can repair it yourself in a matter of minutes.

Click here to see some more Xbox Repair Guide tips.

Fix Xbox 360 Controller
First off, go to your local hardware store or Wal-mart and get a set of Torx bit screwdrivers. You can find a set for only $5. They are very handy to keep around the house anyway, so it’s a good idea to get them.

Then flip over your controller and remove the screws holding the controller together. Depending on what generation controller you have, there should be at least 6 screws and maybe 7 screws.

After taking out the screws, flip it right side up and take the top cover off. It may feel like everything just fell apart, but don’t panic. You’ll be able to put it all back together in a few minutes.

Make sure you are working on a table that is clean and empty so that you don’t lose any pieces. Put the screws someplace where you won’t lose them. I like to use a magnet that holds all the screws. Be careful to keep that magnet away from the controller though.

Take off all the buttons and rubber pads that the controller is sitting on. Lay it flat on the table and if there is something sticky on them, now is a good time to clean it. Use mild soap and some water or a damp cloth to clean the buttons. Be certain to keep the water away from the actually controller itself.

Then put the buttons and rubber pads in the same pattern that they go on the controller, but lay it flat on the table. This will allow it to dry before you put it back in. It also makes it a lot easier when you put everything back together. What also helps is if you draw yourself a diagram before you remove the buttons.

Fix Xbox 360 Controller
Now if you have a sticky or dead buttons, you’ll notice that the board is sticky as well. Use some cotton swabs or a Q-tip with just a tiny dab of rubbing alcohol. Then clean the board and contacts where the rubber pads meet the board. Make sure you don’t use too much alcohol but make it just enough that it can clean the board. At this point it’s a good idea to clean your controller itself while you’re at it. It can get really dirty from the hand sweat when playing games.

Wait about 20 minutes or so for everything to completely dry. Turn the top piece over and put all the buttons in place. The keypad only fits one way so there’s no messing up there. Put the bottom cover back in and screw the screws back in.

Now double check that all the buttons are in place and they all can be pressed down just fine. Check that everything is firmly in place and plug the controller back in. That should work.

Here’s a simple Xbox 360 RROD Fix that can get your Xbox 360 running within a couple of minutes. I know how frustrating it can be to have your gameplay interrupted by freezing and then turning your Xbox back up to see the RROD (Red Ring Of Death). This is a free and fast Xbox 360 RROD Fix that can save you some trouble.

To skip ahead to my recommended Xbox Repair Guide, click here.

My Xbox flashed the 3 RROD while playing Call of Duty and refused to turn on for a few days afterwards. First I tried this method that worked for some people, but not for me:

Xbox 360 RROD Fix

Disconnect everything.

Unplug the power cord from the wall

Unplug the power cord from the power supply

Unplug the power supply from the Xbox 360 console

Unplug all controllers

Wait about 5 minutes. If you’ve been playing for a while, like a few hours, it’s good to wait like 20 minutes for it to cool down a bit. If you have the Xbox in a TV stand or cabinet, take it out and leave it on a table out in the open so that it can cool down efficiently.

Plug everything back in one by one. Make sure that all the connections have a snug and firm fit.

Plug the power back in and turn it on. Hopefully the Xbox 360 RROD will disappear.

If that works then that’s great because you can get back to playing. The problem is usually because you have it in an area where it gets too hot.

If that doesn’t work, don’t worry. The next fix I used fixed my problem within minutes.

Xbox 360 RROD Fix
I realized that my problem with the Xbox 360 was because of the power source. I had my Xbox 360 plugged into a cheap surge protector, like one of these general Made-In-China surge protectors. So what I did instead was take my UPC Backup Battery I had connected to my computer and plugged the Xbox 360 into it.

The trick is to connect the Xbox 360 into a really good surge protector or directly into the wall itself. Sometimes the wall outlets have a faulty connection, so that’s where the UPC Backup comes in. It tells you if the wall connection is faulty or clean. You can try connecting your Xbox 360 to another wall outlet.

What I think is that the Xbox 360 and the Power Supply Unit (PSU) needs really good clean power. And disturbances in the power will cause the Xbox console to give you a Xbox 360 RROD error. What happens is that the proper flow of power to the console and to the PSU is not enough.

The real problem could be not the Xbox 360 console itself, but the actually wall outlet or surge protector.

If that doesn’t work for you, check out this Xbox Repair Guide to get your Xbox 360 RROD Fixed in a matter of 45 minutes or less.

I’ll even go through how to diagnose the error code and problem yourself. Hang on tight and keep reading this Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights Fix article.

To skip ahead to the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights fix, I highly recommend you check out this Xbox Repair Guide.

What is the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights

When the Q1, Q3, and Q4 lights are flashing red you have the Red Ring Of Death. This is the top left, and both bottom lights that are flashing red. It means that there is a general hardware failure. Not very specific, right? Well, follow these steps below to diagnose the specific problem.

First let’s see if you can get rid of the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights by simply unplugging and replugging things in.

Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights Fix – Step A

Turn your Xbox 360 console off

Unplug the power cord from the wall

Unplug all connections. The power supply from the power cord, the cord from the Xbox. All controllers

Reconnect everything one by one and make sure the plugs fit snugly

Turn everything back on and see if it works.

If that works, then great! You can get back to playing. If not, continue on to Step B.

Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights – Step B

Repeat all the steps in Step A and turn everything off

Open up your Xbox 360 console and remove the hard drive

Start the Xbox 360 without the hard drive and see if it turns on

If you don’t get the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights, then turn if back off

Then put the hard drive back in and turn it back on

If that works then it simply was a problem with your hard drive connection. If not, continue to Step C to see what exactly the problem is.

Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights – Step C

How to Obtain the Error Code to see why you are getting the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights

Turn the Xbox 360 on and wait until you see the Xbox 360 3 Flashing Red Lights

Press and hold down the small white sync button next to your memory card slot. Then press the eject button.

Now you will see the LED blink the first number in the code. There will be a set of 4 numbers, in other words, one code has 4 digits (XXXX). Write this number down.

All Four Red Lights Flashing = number 0

1 Red Light Flashing = number 1

2 Red Lights Flashing = number 2

3 Red Lights Flashing = number 3

Now release the eject button. Press the eject button while still holding down the small white sync button. This will give you the second digit in the code.

Repeat these steps until you fill out the 4 digits in the code (XXXX).

The last step will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

Here is what the codes mean:
(XXXX)

An issue with the power supply
Codes: 0001, 0002

Overheating Problem
0010, 0011, 0012, 0013

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Error or Overheating
0022

Miscellaneous Error

Memory Error or an Overheating Memory Problem
0110

Hard Drive Error with the hard drive, connections, or problem with EPROM

When you get the Xbox 360 2 Red lights it is because of overheating. Keep reading to see how to the Xbox 360 2 red lights fix. You will see the left two lights flashing red. I’ll go over the causes of the 2 red lights and also how to avoid it in the future. These tips will keep your Xbox 360 running smoothly for hours without interruption.

To skip ahead to see the Xbox 360 2 red lights fix, click this link to see the Xbox Repair Guide.

The Cause of Xbox 360 2 Red Lights
When you get the Xbox 360 2 Red Lights error, the top left quadrant around the power button and the bottom left quadrant will be flashing red. This is actually the most common error that Xbox gamers encounter during the life span of their 360.

The culprit: Overheating

Your Xbox 360 is basically a small computer and it’s packaged in a tiny console. This gives it very little room to vent out air, but just enough so that if you block some parts of it, it can overheat.

Think about your laptop or your desktop computer you have at home. Let’s pretend you put your laptop under the covers in the bed while it was on or if you blocked the back vents to your desktop computer (don’t actually try this). But what will actually happen is that it will get really hot and it can damage some parts in the machinery.

If you get the Xbox 360 2 Red Lights error, see this Xbox Repair Guide to fix it so that it never happens again.

Xbox 360 2 Red Lights Fix and tips to avoid it
Here are some tips to avoid the Xbox 360 2 Red Lights so that it doesn’t rudely interrupt your game play.

First off, don’t leave your Xbox on a carpet or rug while it is turned on. What happens is that the Xbox 360 will collect too much heat because it can’t expend the heat elsewhere. Think of it like wearing a rug poncho in the middle of summer.

Next, if you have your Xbox 360 in a cabinet, it is not getting enough air to ventilate. It needs to have continuous air flowing into the console and out so that the hot air goes out. Imagine a hot summer day and you have a fan facing the wall instead of at you. What help would that be?

Xbox 360 2 Red Lights Fix
Lastly, make sure that the power supply unit (PSU) is also off the carpet. These things get really hot and that heat is transferred to the console. The PSU will not be able to handle as much heat because there is no cooling element like a fan that the Xbox 360 has. Keep if off the ground if you can and suspend it so that there is air blowing at it.

For some permanent tips to keep your Xbox 360 from overheating and getting the Xbox 360 2 Red Lights error, I highly recommend this all-around Xbox 360 guide.

The most hated Xbox 1 Ring Of Death usually happens with your Xbox 360 freezes and when you go to restart it, you got a 1 ring that flashes in the lower-right quadrant. This is also known as the E74 error, which will display on the screen.

When you get the Xbox 1 Ring of Death, it usually means there is something wrong with your hard drive. The connection could be loose or worse corrupted. Don’t fret, I’ve had this happen to me many times and was able to fix it in under an hour.

Click here to skip ahead to see my Xbox Repair Guide I used to fix the Xbox 1 Ring of Death.

The problem with the Xbox 1 ring of death or E74 error is that it is not covered by Microsoft warranty. That’s the bad news. The good news is that since it’s just the bottom right quadrant and just 1 ring, it’s not the RROD. The Red Ring Of Death is when you have 3 red flashing lights.

To see if it’s your hard drive problem, remove the hard drive and then turn on the Xbox 360. If the red light is no longer there, the problem is most likely the hard drive. The problem could also stem from another internal issue if the red light is still there.

To see full instructions on how to troubleshoot the Xbox 1 Ring Of Death, check out this Xbox Repair Guide.

If you have another code besides E74, check out these other codes to troubleshoot the problem:

E65 – DVD Drive Error
This means that you may have the wrong DVD firmware or the DVD timed out.

E67 – Hard Drive Error
You can take out the hard drive and see if it still plays. It could mean the connection or the hard drive itself.

E68 – Hard Drive Error
Similar to the E67 hard drive error, but it is more related to EPROM

E69 – Hard Drive Error
Also similar to the E67 and E68 hard drive error, but tells exactly what’s wrong with the hard drive.

E74 – Encoder Chip Error
This is the dreaded error that can ruin your Xbox 360 if you don’t know how to fix it

E79 – Hard Drive Error
This specifically states what’s wrong with the hard drive and is similar to codes E67, E68, and E 69.

To see how to diagnose these codes and fix your Xbox 360 in under an hour, I highly recommend this Xbox Repair Guide

For a while there was problems with the Xbox 360 scratching discs. What happened was because the Xbox 360 didn’t have a mechanism to keep the disc in place. As the disc was spinning, it wouldn’t hold securely in place and therefore would get scratched.

Obviously you don’t want to move the console around or tilt it and lift it while the disc is spinning or you’d get the problem of the Xbox 360 scratching discs. It could get so scratched up that the disc would be unusable.

What also could happen is that the tray for the Xbox would not close properly and start spinning the disc. This would make one side of the disc all scratched up.

Unfortunately, not all discs would be covered by Microsoft’s Xbox Disc Replacement program and some of them have at least a $20 fee. You’ll need to have your original receipt and it has to be within 90 days of purchase before they can replace the disc for you. If you’ve past that date and your disc is scratched up, here’s a tip you can use to get rid of the scratches:

Xbox 360 Scratching Discs Repair Tip

Put a thin layer of toothpaste on the scratched side of the disc

Let it dry for 15 minutes or longer depending on how thin you made the layer

Use a damp cloth to get rid of the toothpaste

After the toothpaste has been removed, use Windex or any type of glass cleaner to clean the underside of the disc

Repeat the steps above at most 3 more times.

This tip should help your scratched disc run properly. To see more tips and a Xbox Repair Guide, check out this Xbox Repair Guide which covers: RLOD, RROD, scratched discs, discs sticking to the tray, and more.

Click here to see the Xbox Repair Guide

To prevent your Xbox game on getting scratched follow these tips to avoid the Xbox 360 scratching discs:

Make sure that your game disc is properly inserted into the tray before closing it. You can do this by trying to wiggle the disc around in the tray. It should not be able to move side to side.

Lay your Xbox flat instead of sideways. It makes it easier to secure the disc because of gravity. If it is sideways, the disc has a chance of falling out.

Never move, tilt, or lift your Xbox 360 while there is a disc spinning inside the Xbox.

When not using or playing the game, take the disc out of the console and put it back in your plastic game case. This will protect it from scratches and dust that can harm your Xbox.

Never leave the disc out in the open. Either have it in your Xbox 360 console or in the plastic game case.

Always handle the Xbox disc from the sides of the disc. You can use your index finger in the middle hold of the disc and the rest of your fingers along the outside edge of the disc. This prevents fingerprints from smudging the disc.

If you have the ring of death on your Xbox 360, you might have heard of the Xbox ring of death towel trick where you wrap your Xbox in a bath towel to get rid of the RROD. You might have seen videos of people doing the towel trick and having the RROD mysteriously disappear. I can vouch that it does work, but only for the short-term. It can damage your Xbox 360 in the long term. Keep reading to find out why.

Find out how to fix your Xbox Ring of Death permanently the proper way.

Why the Xbox Ring of Death Towel Trick works
First you need to understand why you get the Red Ring of Death in the first place. The reason why is because of cold solder joints inside the chips. What happens is that the solder underneath the chips have not properly melted which leads to air bubbles and weak spots known as cold solder joints. These happen when there’s prolonged heat inside the console that causes these areas under the chips to crack.

The reason why the Xbox ring of death towel trick works is that it heats up the console to an even higher temperature, allowing the solder to go into these cracks. But what these YouTube videos don’t show you is that once the Xbox cools down again (which it’s supposed to do) the cracks form again, but this time it forms even larger.

The videos never show you what happens after about an hour into playing with the towel trick. It goes back into the RROD mode. If you keep doing the Xbox ring of death towel trick, the cracks just get worse and worse.

Find out how to fix your Xbox Ring of Death permanently the proper way.

The Xbox 360 is basically a computer. It has a fan to cool itself down when temperatures reach a higher degree. With the Xbox 360 wrapped in towels, it’ll just keep getting hotter and hotter. Sure, the Xbox Ring of Death Towel trick will work for the first few times. But once it’s hits a breaking point, this threshold can no longer support the heat and your Xbox 360 will no longer be fixable.

The Dangers of Using the Xbox Ring Of Death Towel Trick
People who do the towel trick only think in the short term, but what they are doing is damaging their Xbox 360 to a point where it can no longer be fixed.

Imagine wrapping your laptop or TV in towels and letting it run all day. It will get so hot, that certain parts will melt.

Wrapping something that gets hot can also cause a fire. It’s just common sense. It’s like trying to wrap a ball of fire with towels – it will just burn up!

You don’t want to cause a fire with your Xbox and you certainly don’t want to overheat your Xbox 360 any more than it has.
Many think that there is no Xbox 360 E74 fix available because it used to be not covered box Microsoft warranty. But as of April 2009, Microsoft decided to cover the E74 error under the 3-year warranty.

What happens with when you get the Xbox E74 error is when the bottom right quadrant of the 4 red lights, light up. Then on the display, you’ll see the error “E74 System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support.”

If you are past the 3-year warranty date, you’re not totally screwed. Read more on how to get the Xbox 360 E74 Fix. But first let’s look at the cause of the E74 error.

If you’d like to skip ahead to the Xbox 360 E74 Fix, go ahead and click this link to see the Xbox repair guide including the Xbox E74 Fix.

The Cause of the E74 Error

The Xbox 360 has a hardware scaler chip inside which causes the error. What happened is that Microsoft, in an attempt to reduce costs, used an in-house method to design the chip. Instead of going to their ASIC vendor to have them design the chip, Microsoft did it themselves. They actually fails numerous times and had the ASIC vendor redesign their chip so that it would dissipate less heat.

If they would have just went with the ASIC vendor in the first place, they would have avoided this whole E74 error problem.

Another cause of the E74 error is because of the soldering points that used to solder. In an effort to reduce the amount of lead used, Microsoft used lead-free solder which is more brittle at higher temperatures. What happens is that the soldering points have hair line cracks when it heats up and then cools down. The electric current is unable to jump through these cracks which cause the E74 error.

Now knowing the cause of the error, you probably want to find the Xbox E74 360 Fix to save your Xbox. Knowing that the problem is caused by heating up your Xbox and cooling it down, do NOT try methods that overheat your Xbox. This includes:

Baking your Xbox. This makes it way too hot for it to handle and actually damages silicon parts

Wrapping your Xbox in a towel. This again makes it too hot and causes other parts inside your 360 to overheat and melt.

Standing on your Xbox. Believe it or not, people have said that standing on your Xbox a certain way will fix the E74 Error. We don’t really need to explain this any futher, it’s just plain dumb

Here’s the real way to do the Xbox 360 E74 Fix. Read this Xbox Repair Guide in full and you’ll be able to have your 360 up and running in no time. It only took me an hour and ten minutes to get it up and going again.

These flashing lights on your Xbox power supply light will determine what kind of problem you have with your power into your Xbox 360 console. Usually there isn’t that many problems with the power supply, but if you see any of these lights, then you’ll know what to do.

The Xbox power supply light is different than the lights you see around the power button. Those lights form a ring and is generally called the red ring of death. See this article for more information about flashing lights on Xbox.

Green Xbox power supply light
This light means that everything is OK. It’s the default light when everything is working fine on your Xbox 360. However, if you are having problems with your power supply, you’ll also see a green light if nothing shows up on the screen. This may mean that your console may be messed up. This is really rare though, so don’t worry about it too much.

Orange or Yellow Xbox power supply light
A flashing orange or yellow light means that your console is fine but instead there is something wrong with your power supply. It means that it’s not getting enough power for some reason.

This basically means that the console doesn’t detect the AV pack.

Here’s how to fix the problem:
1.	Unplug the power supply from your Xbox 360 (the console on the back)
2.	Also unplug the power cord from where it connects to the wall outlet
3.	Unplug the power cord from the Xbox 360 power supply. The actual brick power supply.
4.	Wait 5 minutes
5.	Reconnect everything one-by-one and double-check that it’s a snug fit
6.	Also try plugging it into another wall outlet
7.	Plug it directly to the wall outlet without and extension cords or power strips.

This should fix the problem. If it still gets the orange or yellow flashing light, try it again. If you get the same result than something is wrong with your Xbox power supply. Contact Xbox 360 customer support to get a new power supply. Good thing it’s not the actual console itself.

Red Xbox power supply light
If you get a red light on your Xbox 360 power supply that means there is something wrong with the power supply. Either it’s the connection or the actual power supply. Use the same 7 steps presented above to remedy the problem. It is usually the case that a connection is loose, somewhere between the wall outlet and the power supply to the console.

After doing the 7 steps above, if it still doesn’t work, than you may need to get a new power supply.

No Xbox power supply light
If there is not light indicated or nothing flashing, then the connection is not made. Make sure that it’s connected to the wall outlet and also the power cord to the actual power supply. Then you can plug it into the Xbox 360 console.

Also if you see a flashing orange light on your Xbox 360 console, it may mean your Xbox 360 is starting to over heat. Read about what to do in my other article about the Xbox Overheating Fix.

My Xbox 360 was crashing at least once every 20 minutes due to overheating. Here’s my Xbox 360 overheating fix that I used. I’ve been playing for 4 hours straight and no crashes so far! I have left the consol on for 7 hours just to see if it would crash and the overheating fix works.

Before I get into the Xbox 360 Overheating Fix, let’s go over why it overheating causes freezing in the first place.

Click here to skip ahead to the Xbox 360 Overheating Fix

What happens is that there is an internal temperature gauge inside the Xbox 360 which measures the amount of heat inside the Xbox. The reason they have this is because if it gets too hot inside the Xbox, the parts, especially the silicon parts can get easily damaged and won’t work anymore.

One major problem with Xbox 360s is that if it gets too hard, there will be cracks that form in the soldering joints under the chips. These hairline fractures are enough to make a gap that electrical current can’t travel through. So it’s a good thing that your Xbox 360 freezes to stop the console from overheating.

There are some measures you can take to prevent the console from ever reaching such a high temperature.

Here’s the Xbox 360 Overheating fix to prevent your Xbox from getting to hot:
1.	Make sure your Xbox 360 console is not on a rug or carpet. If you have hardwood floors, leave it on the hardwood floor and not on any type of rug that will trap the heat in.

2.	If you have your Xbox 360 console inside a closed TV stand, make sure that you keep it open while it’s on. Also make sure it’s not too close to the back of the stand where it blocks the vents on the back of the Xbox 360.

3.	If you don’t have any other open, use a box to put the Xbox 360 on top of.

4.	Take the power supply off of the ground. It gets really hot when it’s on carpet as well.

5.	If you could suspend the power supply with some string that would be the best option, if not, just get a box with no cover and put the power supply on the edges

6.	The main point is to get the power supply unit off of the ground for maximum heat release.

Xbox 360 Overheating Fix
This is what you do if your Xbox 360 freezes and overheats.

1.	Turn off your Xbox 360 console

2.	Unplug the power supply from the Xbox 360

3.	Leave it off and unplugged for about 20 minutes

4.	The longer you leave it in the better. Don’t do anything like putting the Xbox in the freezer. The moisture from the freezer could actually damage the Xbox

5.	Plug everything back in and it should work again.

Website: 360FixKit Review

I’ve been asked countless of times if 360FixKit is a scam. People aren’t 100% sure that they can really fix their Xbox 360 in under 2 hours. But their website does look more legit than other Xbox repair guides. I took the dive and said why not, so I had to give it a try.

Here are the symptoms I had with my Xbox 360 and I’ll let you know if 360FixKit fixed it or not:

Red Lights of Death (RLOD) with 3 rights lights flashing

And also my disc tray was sticking.

My main concern was the RLOD and if the 360FixKit would be able to fix it. The disc tray sticking thing was just a minor annoyance that I could live with, but if it got fixed too, I would be cool with it.

Use This Coupon to get 33% Off 360FixKit

360FixKit Review
I tackled the easiest thing first and wanted to see if I could get the disc tray sticking thing out of the way. The disc tray sticking issue was in the PDF guide and I went directly to the chapter on it. It took about 10 minutes to get that fixed and consistently not have a problem with the disc try sticking again.

Once I got the easy stuff out of the way, I really needed to get the Red Lights of Death fixed once and for all. I poured through the video guides about the 3 red lights error. Then I got to work. I tried it myself and got stuck. After disassembling the Xbox 360, I got stuck at a point where I was supposed to take the disc drive out and also the fans. I wasn’t sure where the screws were.

I looked in the guide and video but it seemed to get me even more confused.

So I contacted their 24/7 technical support for the answer to my problem.

To my surprise, their technical support was actually very helpful. They told me exactly what I had done wrong (I was looking in the wrong place. No wonder I couldn’t find the screws). But even after that, the more difficult part of actually fixing the RLOD, the tech support actually walked me through the steps.

I was pleasantly surprised that they were so friendly and were able to help me so quickly. With 360FixKit’s help, I was able to get my Xbox running and fixed the RLOD in 1 hour and 43 minutes.

The technical support alone is why I give the 360FixKit Review two thumbs up. It got my Xbox running again and that’s all I care about.

There are several different sequences of flashing lights on Xbox which indicate different meanings. There are four quadrants on the Xbox 360 that surround the power light and button.

One of the most common problems is the 3 flashing red lights which indicates that there is a problem with your Xbox. You can send this to Microsoft for a repair, but it generally takes up to 8 weeks to get it back. Also if you’ve past your warranty, you won’t be able to send it in for repair. Don’t despair though, check out this 1-hour fix that can fix the 3 flashing light problem on your Xbox.

There are 4 quadrants starting from the top left corner and going clockwise we’ll count it as 1, 2 and then the bottom half3, 4. So 1 is top left, 2 is top right, 3 is bottom left, and 4 is bottom right. The middle power light is always green when turned on.

Powered On
The powered on state is when the flashing lights on Xbox is green in quadrant 1. So the top left corner is green. The top left corner is illuminated green when the console is on and operating normally. If you have more controllers connected, the other green quadrants will turn on. With just 1 controller connected, only the top left corner will be green. If you have all 4 controllers connected, all 4 quadrants will be green.

Hardware Failure
The bottom right quadrant will be red if there is a hardware failure. This is in quadrant 4 that will have the 1 flashing red lights on your Xbox. Quadrant 4, or Q4, will flash red and a 2 digit error code will be displayed on the display. The error code for this is usually E74 which means a hardware failure.

Many people think that the E74 code is the code of death and that there’s no way to fix your Xbox.

Check out this Xbox Repair Guide to fix E74 Hardware Failure in under 1 hour.

Overheating
Sometimes your Xbox 360 gets too hot and needs to cool down. When the temperature reaches this threshold where it’s unusually hot you’ll see that the two left quadrants will be red. Quadrant 1 and quadrant 3 will be flashing red. This indicates that you need to turn off your Xbox, unplug it, and let it cool down. Wait at least 20 minutes before you turn it back on. The longer you wait, the better.

Red Ring Of Death Xbox
When you get the quadrants 1, 3, and 4 lit, it means you have the red ring of death on your Xbox 360. This means that the top left, and two bottom quadrants are flashing red. This is also called the 3 ring of death Xbox. Don’t fret though, you don’t have to wait 6 weeks to send in your Xbox and wait for Microsoft to send it back. I have a repair guide that you can use to fix your Xbox and have it working within 1 hour and usually less than an hour.

AV Cable Error
When you get all 4 quadrants flashing red, it means that an AV cable is not detected. You’ll need to plug it in all the way and make sure that it fits tightly. If it is plugged in and you still get this error, it could mean a more serious problem. If you Xbox 360 has a HDMI connection, you won’t see this AV cable error because it is connecting through the HDMI.

The three flashing lights is a code for what Microsoft calls “general hardware failure.” Xbox gamers call this the red ring of death.

To skip ahead to the best solution on how to fix your three flashing red light problem, go to Xbox 360 Repair guide to fix your Xbox in under an hour.

Three Flashing Red Lights on Xbox 360

If your Xbox is under warranty, you can send it in for replacement, but there are at least three downsides to this.

You have to wait about 4-6 weeks and sometimes longer depending on the situation. I had a friend who sent his in but had to wait 8 weeks because of how he filled out the form online. Going cold turkey and not playing your Xbox for over a month and maybe 2 months can be really painful. It throws you out of your funk and you have to get back where you left off and lose some of your gamer skills.

The Xbox you get back won’t necessarily be yours. What Microsoft does to speed up the warranty replacement is they gut out your Xbox. The only thing that will be yours is the white shell around the Xbox. The inside parts and back metal piece could have came from a 12-year old gamer who abused their Xbox. You never know where it came from. My friend the other day just got his Xbox back after waiting 6 weeks. When he went to go power it on, it was set in UK time and he lives in the United States. So it looked like his original Xbox got replaced by some kid in the UK. Also he looked at the back metal part and it was all scratched up. It sucks that he babied his Xbox and because of the red ring of death, he gets one back that’s all scratched up.

You lose out on Xbox Live for a month or so. While your Xbox is being repaired, you can’t pause your Xbox Live subscription and you basically lose out on a whole month and sometimes two. You also lose some of your skills. I mean, it is like riding your bicycle in which you’ll never forgot. But once you start playing Call of Duty again, you’ll notice that you’ll be a bit rusty at first.

The Cause of Three Flashing Red Lights on Xbox 360

Some people say that the cause of the three flashing red lights on Xbox 360 is due to overheating. Other say it’s the graphics chip that Microsoft used. Although Microsoft neither confirms or denies what the cause is, I personally think it’s a combination of both along with the cold solder joints. There are air bubbles that form underneath these chips which can cause weak spots. What happens is that the void or air bubble cause cracking when the console heats up. It’s pretty technical, but I’ll cover the causes of the three flashing red lights.

Here are the most common problems with Xbox 360. If you own an Xbox 360, it will be hard to avoid these because for most of the time, it’s not under your control. It has to do with when and where it was assembled and the manufacturer’s warranty on whether or not it will be covered.

Three Flashing Red Lights

The three flashing red lights are the most common issue that Xbox gamers see. It is also the most dreaded. Read more about the three flashing red lights here. Or if you are looking for a repair guide to fix your Xbox in under an hour, check out this Xbox repair guide.

Xbox 360 Overheating

When you see 2 flashing lights it means that your Xbox is getting too hot. You don’t want the console overheating and damaging the inside parts, so take these steps when you get the 2 flashing lights:

1.	Turn off your Xbox 360 console right away
2.	Unplug the power supply from the Xbox
3.	(Optional) Unplug it from the wall outlet
4.	Wait for at least 5 minutes, the longer the better. Up to 30 minutes to an hour or two.
5.	Plug back in the power supply (and into the wall outlet if you unplugged it)
6.	Turn the console back on.

What happens when the system overheats is the way the chips were soldered on in the Xbox. When the solder gets exposed to elevated temperatures for a long period of time, usually a few hours, the material becomes brittle and can damage your Xbox 360.

To prevent your Xbox from overheating, make sure that it gets plenty of air. Some people put their Xbox next to the TV which can get hot and also in a closed cabinet. The Xbox needs to be well ventilated so that it can grab air to keep it cool.

Do not place your Xbox 360 on a carpet or thick rug. It tends to get hotter that way. Keep it on a hard material like hardwood floors or a wood book shelf or TV stand.

Xbox 360 Scratched Discs

Gamers complained about discs being scratched because they weren’t held in place inside the trays. Obviously, you don’t want to pick up the Xbox and start shaking it while the disc is spinning or the hard drive is spinning. The scratched disc phenomena has only been reported by a few gamers and Microsoft says that they can’t replicate it.

Here’s a quick tip that you can use. Put a thin layer of toothpaste on the side of the scratched disc. Then let it dry and wipe with a wet towel and then use Windex to clean the CD once again. Be sure to only do this 2 or 3 times because the more you do it, the more you can damage the disc.

If you have any of these problems, be sure to check out this Xbox Repair Guide to have it all fixed under an hour

Website: ThreeRedLightsFix Review

Upon starting my ThreeRedLightsFix review, I bought the ThreeRedLightsFix from the website. At first, I was a bit weary about getting it from the site because it seemed overly sales-like. I mean, looking at the website, it’s obvious with the large headlines and sub-headlines that ThreeRedLightsFix is trying to sell you their guide. I don’t blame them, if it works I’ll be glad to get it. But do they have to be so overly sale-y?

To skip the review and see the actual Xbox Repair Guide, go ahead and click this link to go straight to the Xbox Repair Guide.

While the other guides on the net claims to fix your red ring of death on your Xbox in an hour, ThreeRedLightsFix claims that it can fix it in 37 minutes or your money back. That’s a pretty bold claim to be able to fix the ring of death in just 37 minutes flat.

I had a chance to talk with the creator of ThreeRedLightsFix, Chris Jones, for a few minutes. I asked him how he can put a guarantee that my Xbox would be fixed in 37 minutes. I wondered because what if I had no knowledge in disassembling the Xbox 360.

ThreeRedLightsFix Review

Chris assured me that he has a fix that didn’t involve even taking the Xbox apart. Now I was really in disbelief. I went ahead and got the guide because he stood by his guarantee confidently and I kind of wanted to prove him wrong.

I figured that if this company has been around for 3 years, it’s go to be legit. And there was no doubt about it. As soon as I got the e-book (within minutes, almost seconds), I poured through the information and his method does sound like something that should work.

Click here to see the Xbox 360 repair guide that can fix your ring of death in 37 minutes.

I went ahead and tried the method that didn’t require the dis assembly because I was scared to open up my Xbox 360. To my surprise, it actually worked. I was able to pop Halo 3 back in and start playing. Although it took a little longer, at 44 minutes, I wasn’t going to contest him over 7 minutes. I did take my sweet time.

I was honestly impressed that it worked. I have no doubt in my mind that ThreeRedLightsFix will work for you and it is definitely something that works. I want to thank Chris Jones for creating ThreeRedLightsFix because it got my Xbox 360 working in just a matter of minutes. I also want to thank him for letting me do this ThreeRedLightsFix Review. I won’t hold it to him that it took 7 minutes longer than he advertised, but as long as it worked!

I spoke with James Dean, the creator of Xbox360RedLightFix and told him I was going to do a Xbox360RedLightFix review for his product. He hooked it up with the manuals and videos so that I could do a proper review.

He seemed like a nice person on the phone and we even chatted it up for a while. He told me how he got into selling this Xbox360RedLightFix when he got fed up waiting for Microsoft to send him back his Xbox 360. He said he waited 9 weeks to get it back from Microsoft. That’s ridiculous!

What struck me at first was that the videos he included are in high definition and were step-by-step instructions. I barely even needed the guide because the videos by itself were a big help.

I went through the tools that I needed and it was just common household tools I had at home in the garage. It didn’t seem like I needed any technical knowledge since I had no idea how the Xbox 360 works.

40% Off Coupon for Xbox360RedLightFix

The first thing I did was disassemble my Xbox 360. I made sure I watched the whole section of that video so that I could be prepared on what to do.

It was easy enough that anyone could do it. Check out this customer testimonial on how he fixed the 3 ring of death problem in about the same time it took me, just under an hour.

Again the high def videos really made a difference with Xbox360RedLightFix and it was the reason why I chose this product as the best performing one.

Here’s why you should get Xbox360RedLightFix

It takes care of freeze up in the middle of game play

Sometimes you get those checkered graphics that ruin your frame rate. Xbox360RedLightFix handles that problem

2 Red lights: the annoying 2 red light problem that happens from overheating

4 red lights: how to fix it with your AV cable

1 red light, or the E74 error. This is by far the most annoying error because Microsoft doesn’t even cover it in their warranty. Good thing the guys at Xbox360RedLightFix will tell you how to fix it.

All in all Xbox360RedLightFix fixed my Xbox 360 and I have it up and running again. There’s nothing else that needs to be said really, other than: It works!

Website: 3 Red Light Fix Review

I got the dreaded red ring of death on my Xbox while playing Call of Duty. My warranty had just expired on my Xbox and plus I didn’t want to wait 7 weeks to get my Xbox back and start playing on Xbox Live again. So I did a search and found 3 Red Light Fix. I will give you my honest and unbiased 3 Red Light Fix Review.

I was skeptical, but their first line at the top of the 3 Red Light Fix web page made my take the plunge. They state that: “Our Xbox 360 Repair Guide & Videos will help you fix your Xbox 360 in less than 1 hour, or we’ll give you a complete refund – no questions asked!”

How awesome is that? A full refund if I can’t get it to work. So I thought why not and went for it. I could fix it in an hour and get some COD (Call of Duty) play time and still have time to get ready for work.

3 Red Light Fix Review
3 Red Light Fix really lives up to their hype. I purchased the e-book and videos and they sent it to me right away. I took out my egg timer and set it to 60 minutes to see if they really lived up to their guarantee.

The 3 Red light fix guide was surprisingly easy to understand. I thought I would have to butcher my Xbox 360 and mess with its components. But it was nothing like that.

Instant Download is ONLY good on the following date: //

I even saw a YouTube video of a guy fixing his red ring of death by standing on top of his Xbox 360. No way was I going to do that.
First thing I did was watch the videos because they were easier to watch than to read. Ten minutes roll by.

Then I skimmed through the material briefly. The egg timer counts down another 6 minutes or so.

3RedLightFix Review
I decide to get to work. Soon enough, I’m not even paying attention to the egg timer and working on my Xbox 360. I follow the guides and videos that 3 Red Light Fix sent me and didn’t really get confused at all.

Before I know it, I plug back in my Xbox 360 and turn it on.

Guess what?
Green lights! A flashing green light and I see something displayed on the screen. It’s the Xbox 360 logo. I can’t believe I actually got it to work.

I look at the egg timer and I still have 22 minutes to spare. How cool is that!

In my 3 Red Light Fix review, I give it two gamer thumbs up! The guide was easy to understand, and the best part was that it actually worked. I was so bummed that my Xbox stopped working but couldn’t believe it only took 38 minutes to get it up and running again.

Hi everyone,

I set up this website to help people find a fix to the red ring of death Xbox. I know how frustrating it could be when you’re playing your Xbox and you get the 3 ring of death Xbox.

On this site you’ll find numerous how-to guides, tips, tricks, and resources designed to help you keep your Xbox 360 running in tip top shape. You’ll avoid issues on getting your discs scratched up and bricking your Xbox.

But first, here’s a quick background on the ring of death xbox:

The Xbox 360 can have technical problems especially being a relatively new game console to the gaming world. Some of these problems can render the Xbox unusable and it gets pretty annoying when you’re in the middle of a game.

You can tell what most of these problems are from looking at the set of red lights in front of the Xbox 360 console.

There are a series of 4 red lights around the power button that form a ring. That’s how the nickname: “Red Ring Of Death” got coined. The ring of death Xbox is not something you want to see, but the chances are pretty high.

Since the release of the Xbox 360 in November 22, 2005, there has been a number of reported failures with the system. This high failure rate has been reportedly estimated at 54%. So if you have a Xbox 360 and haven’t had a problem yet, consider yourself lucky.

But don’t fret, here’s a great Xbox repair guide that covers the ring of death Xbox along with other problems:

Xbox 360 Repair Guide

It’s a fantastic site that has step by step directions on how to fix the 3 ring of death Xbox error along with overheating, freezing, E74 error, glitches, and more.

Anyway, back to what this red ring of death Xbox site is all about…

Usually when your Xbox 360 is running fine, you’ll see one to four green lights that surround the power button. This indicates normal operation and that everything is fine.

Some common problems you might have seen or heard is when you see graphical problems in the middle of game play such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen. Or the worse is when you get freeze-up in the middle of your game play.

Here are some of the most common problems besides the ring of death Xbox:

Console Freezing

AV Cable not plugged in

Overheating problems (the fan runs at full speed)

Hardware failure, also known as code E74

One Red light failure: General hardware failure

Graphical errors: checkerboard or pinstripe pattern on the screen

Scratched Discs
